Get Wasted is one of EIT Food’s initiatives in Belgium. EIT Food is specifically looking for a Marketing & Communication Coordinator for the Get Wasted project.ABOUT GET WASTEDGet Wasted is a B2B marketplace for food surpluses. The online platform connects farmers and wholesalers to social organisations such as schools, as well as to restaurants and caterers. At Get Wasted, we are committed to combating food loss and waste by economically re-valorizing surplus food. Through our innovative platform, we empower producers by transforming surplus food into a valuable source of income. Our circular model ensures that the surplus generated by one actor becomes the raw material for another, effectively contributing to the global effort to reduce food loss and waste. By working with food surpluses, caterers and restaurateurs make their operations more sustainable, while it enhances consumers’ access to healthy, local and seasonal food options.Our mission extends beyond the marketplace, as we raise awareness about food loss and advocate for a more sustainable and circular food system, targeting key stakeholders in the food industry, policy makers, and even consumers.Check our website to learn more about Get Wasted and EIT Food.JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIESAs Get Wasted’s project manager, you oversee and coordinate the growth of the platform, the upscaling strategy and guide the small horizontally structured team of six dedicated freelancers towards achieving our growth goals. Alignment between overall EIT Food strategy and management and the Get Wasted project: Develop, coordinate and track growth and scaling strategy; with support of EIT Food’s Innovation department and within the larger EIT Food Ecosystem; guard and continue to track value proposition and partnership criteria, finetune where necessary and put the right processes in place for smooth communications and operationsProject Management tasks: coordinate team, oversee and track KPIs and Objectives, scrum master for sprint planning, retrospectives, team meetingsBudget and Finances: oversee the budgets for growth, expenses and freelancers, reporting, BVFM, contracts; in collaboration with the office manager of EIT Food CLC WestLegal: coordinate creation of legal contracts when necessaryPeople Management: support the different team members to achieve their goals; align on priorities through 1on1, offer guidance where needed, lead and be part of a team that flexibly shares tasks and sets prioritiesSales and Growth: In collaboration with the matchmaking and business development leads, monitor and adjust the sales and growth strategy for Get Wasted; support the matchmaking and business development leads in developing local partnerships for Antwerp, Brussels and Leuven in the first phase and other regions in the coming period; Together with sales and business development leads, develop national or regional overarching partnerships with larger partnersEngage with partners for funding calls to fund the growth of Get Wasted; assist in grant writingParticipate in events to network and build visibility for Get Wasted, both in Flanders and within the EIT Food ecosystemReporting: Impact, Activity and Cost Reporting for both grant proposals and EIT Food internally KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCESQualificationsYou hold a Bachelor or Master degree;Experience in sustainability as a topic, with particular background in food and/or circular economy;Minimum 3 years of experience in project and people management with a proven record of delivering resultsKnowledge of the food sector and its stakeholders, in particular the Flemish-Belgian contextSales and product management experience, affinity with customer relationship and stakeholder management are a plusProficiency in a variety of PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital tools Asana, Slack, Miro, ...) are essential;You are fluent in Dutch, English and FrenchExperience with writing grant proposals is considered an advantage.Experience with working with Get Wasted’s key stakeholders (farmers, schools, caterers, restaurateurs) is considered an advantage. Skills and behaviorYou enjoy working in a matrix-organisation in a multinational teamYou have experience managing a small teamYou have a strong sense of ownership with proven record of delivering resultsYou combine strong commercial and representation skillsYou are proactive, independent and trustworthy but value team work tooYou respect timelines and deadlinesYou have good interpersonal and communication skillsYou show a can-do attitude and you are willing and eager to learnYou are comfortable using online tools (Asana, Slack,..) and scrum methodology as the team operates partially remote (and async)You are not afraid when it gets technical (development or product management skills are not required) WHAT WE OFFERPlay a key role in Get Wasted’s mission of fostering a sustainable and circular food system while tackling food loss and food wasteBe part of a dynamic, and supportive team of six dedicated and committed freelancers.Deepen and broaden your experience and expertise in a nurturing settingBe part of a strong European organisation that is leading the way in innovation JOB TYPEFreelance contract until December 2024 – 4 days / week; with possibility for extension. LOCATIONRemote work (from Belgium) with (infrequent) meetings in Leuven, Brussels or Ghent.
