EIT Food is Europe’s leading food innovation initiative, working to make the food system more sustainable, healthy, and trusted by consumers. Established by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in 2017, EIT Food is a young and fast-growing partnership organisation focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation in the food sector. EIT Food is a member organisation bringing together key industry players, agri-food startups, research centres and universities from across Europe representing the food value chain in Europe. EIT Food headquarters (HQ) are based in Leuven (Belgium), and it has 5 regional offices in Europe (based in Belgium, Poland, Spain, Germany, and the UK), each working with and for partners in several EIT Food partner countries. Get Wasted is one of EIT Food’s initiatives in Belgium. EIT Food is specifically looking for a Marketing & Communication Coordinator for the Get Wasted project.

Get Wasted is a B2B marketplace for food surpluses. The online platform connects farmers and wholesalers to social organisations such as schools, as well as to restaurants and caterers. At Get Wasted, we are committed to combating food loss and waste by economically re-valorizing surplus food. Through our innovative platform, we empower producers by transforming surplus food into a valuable source of income. Our circular model ensures that the surplus generated by one actor becomes the raw material for another, effectively contributing to the global effort to reduce food loss and waste. By working with food surpluses, caterers and restaurateurs make their operations more sustainable, while it enhances consumers’ access to healthy, local and seasonal food options.

Our mission extends beyond the marketplace, as we raise awareness about food loss and advocate for a more sustainable and circular food system, targeting key stakeholders in the food industry, policy makers, and even consumers.

As Get Wasted’s MarCom coordinator, you will be working in a small, horizontally structured team of six dedicated freelancers.
